Dickson County Records at the Dickson County Library

by on Friday, October 17th, 2003

We also invite everyone to come visit us. The collection has been greatly increased (using funds from the last budget year, earmarked for this area in particular) and has finally been processed and shelved. The cataloging system has been completely redone; all books pertaining to any one county are shelved together, a major plus for all of us genealogists.

Among the new materials are microfilms of all available death certificates as well as a subscription to Ancestry Plus.

We also urge you to get a library card or renew yours if it doesn't have a barcode. Unfortunately in the current political climate our library is considered of value only to those Dickson County residents who hold current cards. So come visit our new collection and update your library card at the same time. We'd love to see you.

Micro-film on some old county records

  • covers from earliest records through the early 1960's
  • Census on Dickson and surrounding counties
  • Newspapers from Dickson,Hickman,Humphries, Houston-Stewart, and Cheatham Counties as well as some Montgomery County papers from the turn of the century
  • The Local History/Genealogy Room now has e-mail. Limited lookups may be sent to dicpl@comcast.net

by on Saturday, October 4th, 2003

Dear Lampley Cousins,

It?s time to start thinking ahead to the 12th annual reunion of descendants of James Lampley (London, Barbados, USA) and marking your calendars for June 12, 2004, Fairview Recreation Center in Fairview, TN. Because of the postal costs, we have reduced postal mailings to a list of 200 people who have expressed interest in the last two years. We will rely on you to forward this letter and further information to cousins you may know. Those who have provided us with an email address, will continue to get more updates and information than the US Postal mailing list.
