Charlotte, TN – Name Origin
Dickson, TN History
Dickson County was formed o?n October 25, 1803. Land grants date as early as 1786. In 1804 a commission was appointed to find a site for the county seat. The 50 acres that Charles Stewart offered to donate for a county seat were accepted by the commission. The town was named Charlotte in honor of James Robertson’s wife. In 1806 it became the county seat. In 1907, the first post office in the county was established in Charlotte.

After searching VA Census records, I believe that during the 1810 Census,
John Eubank b. 10 Oct 1804 was in Albermale County, VA. at the age of 5-6 years old.

John Eubank , Tennesse State Representative (from 1839-1849 and 1861 to 1863) , who attempted to make Charlotte, TN the state capital (lost by 2 votes) was born 10 Oct 1804 in Halifax or Mecklenburg County, VA. The county between these two is named Charlotte Co., VA This is a possible origin for the town name.Daniel Eubank
