Dickson County Library Local History/Genealogy Room gets a Face Lift

by admin on October 24th, 2003

Everyone is invited to come visit the Dickson County Library. The genealogy collection has been greatly increased (using funds from the last budget year, earmarked for this area in particular) and has finally been processed and shelved.

The cataloging system has been completely redone; all books pertaining to any one county are shelved together, a major plus for all of us genealogists. In addition, the Local History/Genealogy Room now has e-mail. Martha Gerdeman is available to do limited lookups.

Among the new materials are microfilms of all available death certificates as well as a subscription to Ancestry Plus.

We also urge you to get a library card or renew yours if it doesn't have a barcode. Unfortunately in the current political climate our library is considered of value only to those Dickson County residents who hold current cards. So come visit our new collection and update your library card at the same time. We'd love to see you.
