Willey or Wiley Family

by admin on May 8th, 2005

I’m researching the John Willey or Wiley family. He died in Dickson County in 1835 and then many of his children moved to Arkansas. My direct relation, Washington Thomas Willey was born in Dickson between 1795-1800. If anybody has any information o?n this family it would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I am also looking for information on the Willeys/Wileys of Dickson County, TN. From information I have been able to find, they originally migrated from North Carolina. My ggrandmother was Florence Dovie Willey. Her father was Felix Epsom Willey ( born in Dickson Co., TN ). His father was Thomas William Willey ( born in Halifax Co., NC ) whose father was John Willey (from NC). I have not been able to find any other information on this family, other than, Felix, his wife, Delilah, and several of their children are buried in Hutton’s Cemetery outside White Bluff, TN. I hope you get this e-mail. I am not sure where to look for your reply.

In reply to the first post, it appears that you may be searching for the family of William Daniel Willey? I’m looking for info on his son, William Dickson Willey. It appears that William Dickson Willey was either shot or hung by Union troops in Dickson County, along with a Demps Dobson or Dodson, in connection with the death of my g-g-greatgranddad, John Isaac Linzy. In one story I found, the two were executed for the murder of John Linzy, but I’ve also found another story which states that all three men were killed by the Federals, with Mr. Willey and Mr. Dobson “set up” by the Yankees, in order to cover up their murder of John Linzy. However this happened, it’s a very compelling story, and I’d love to find more info!
