Born in Dickson Cuunty TN in late 1700s, married to John Seymour Pickett II 22 Mar 1798 in Culpepper VA, died at sea.

Maria Rebecca Collier was the first wife of my ggggfather John S. Pickett; John, his wife Mary Rebecca Collier(born Dickson TN), and daughter Mary Rebecca left Charleston SC and went to Savannah GA circa 1800. John, a Loyalist, a nd his family were moving to Spanish Territory of East FL. They joined sh ip of Capt. George J. Murray at Savannah en route to St. Augustine FL; Mur ray was heading a colony to settle in FL, as Spanish Government ecnourag ed settlers to develop the land and control the Indians.

A bad storm was encountered off coast of St. Augustine FL, and his wife Re becca was lost. John’s daughter, Mary Rebecca Pickett, born abt 1790, married a Thomas Bellows, born 15 Feb 1807 in Washington County NY.

I would like to locate where Mary Rebecca Collier Pickett’s brothers/sisters,etc., are buried.

Capt. Murray’s ship was wrecked in service to Spanish government; therefor e, he and the colonists were granted Spanish Land Grants in FL Territo ry at New Smyrna, also known as Indian River North, in 1803.

There in East Florida Territory, now Nassau Co FL, he met and married Maria Pons.

Maria Collier and John S. Pickett II were married 22 Mar 1798 at Culpepper VA.

Does anyone know the family of Maria Rebecca Collier? I go through DIckson County TN frequently and would like to find out about her family.
