OCTOBER 1856

Z Britt's Will

In the name of God Amen.

I Zedekiah Britt _?__ hereby make my last Will and Testament _?_ _?__ hereby revoke all others and it is my desire that my estate be equally divided among my Wife and Children as follows if she is the longest liver __?__

1st to my wife Rebecca 2 Negro boys named Caster and Jacob 2 Negro wimmen named Lucia and Ellen the tract of land that I live in containing 190 Acres and all of the Household property farming utensils and all of the stock of every description to her her life time at her death to be Divided as follows: 1st o­ne of the boys named Caster & 2 wimmin named Lucia and Ellen to my son John Madison and his heirs. 2nd two boys named Jacob and Joseph 1 woman named Mariah to my daughter Fredonia Rebecca and her heirs. 3rd the above tract of land to be sold and equally divided among my daughter Mary's 4 oldest children named Cordelia, Sarah Ann, George Zedekiah & Mary Jones. 4th to o­ne woman and 3 children her name Mary the children names Henry Isaac & E__?___ to be equally divided among my daughter Mary's four oldest children named Cordelia, Sarah Ann, George and Mary Jones. 5th to a boy named Daniel to my son John Madison's oldest daughter Rebecca Ann and her heirs. 6th Joseph's child named Henry Jackson to my daughter Fredonia Rebecca oldest son named James Madison and his heirs. 7th To o­ne tract of land known as the Harrdilin (?) Tract containing 227 acres to my son John Madison and his heirs. 8th My son John Madison and my daughter Fredonia Rebecca to pay back each of them o­ne hundred dollars for the benefit of Mary ___?___ ___?___. 9th o­ne tract of land containing 127 acres to my daughter Fredonia Rebecca and her heirs.

It is furthermore my request and last wish that my beloved son John Madison and friend John H. Marable act as my Executors and that the assist does not demand of them Security I having full confidence in their faithful performance.
